BrightEdge launches Agent Edge to make sites AI-agent ready
BrightEdge launched Agent Edge, a platform that detects AI-agent requests at the CDN layer and serves a lightweight, Markdown-formatted version of a site’s pages — without changing what human visitors see — to agents such as ChatGPT and Perplexity. The company says an audit of the top 20,000 websites found 97% aren’t currently set up to serve agents in optimized formats, and cites early customers Arm and Bloomfire seeing gains in agent-driven traffic after adopting the product. A separate BrightEdge analysis of ChatGPT recommendations across nine industries, June 2025 to June 2026, found the number of sources ChatGPT cited per answer nearly doubled while the number of brands it recommended fell about 25%.
Why it matters: Agent Edge treats agent traffic as its own delivery problem, betting that serving a stripped, machine-readable page to bots becomes as standard a checklist item as mobile-friendliness once was.
The record: ChatGPT
