Ask YouTube gains product cards that link out to retailers
Ask YouTube is set to add product cards that send viewers directly to retailer sites, on top of the spec comparison tables the wire reported Sept. 23, per PPC Land’s account of YouTube’s Made on YouTube event and a Sept. 25 Creator Insider demo. Also coming: comment-section summaries and frame-level video search that returns timestamps for specific moments. Both features are described as arriving “soon,” limited to U.S. viewers, with no date given. YouTube has not said which data supplies the comparison table’s product attributes or how it ranks the products and creators shown.
Why it matters: It moves Ask YouTube from summarizing video content to sending viewers to a purchase, the same direction Google's AI Mode and Gemini checkout are pushing search — and YouTube still won't say how it ranks the products or creators it surfaces.
