Google AI Overviews expand to NFL team roster searches
Google’s AI Overview panel now generates a full roster listing for some NFL team searches, appearing above or below the team’s own site, per Search Engine Roundtable, citing SEO consultant Glenn Gabe. Gabe spotted the feature on a Las Vegas Raiders roster search during a Sunday game; Search Engine Roundtable found it also appeared for the New York Jets, but not for the Green Bay Packers or New York Giants, suggesting an uneven rollout.
Why it matters: It's a fresh example of AI Overviews pushing into another content vertical after expanding into finance queries in April — this time generating sports-roster answers that can keep the click on Google instead of a team or stats site.
