BCA and Bank Mandiri split Indonesia's AI banking visibility lead

AI chat engines disagree on which bank to name first in close to half of matched comparisons, per the PRecious AI Authority Index: Southeast Asia Banking 2026, a study by communications firm PRecious Communications covered by ContentGrip. Across 1,628 eligible matched comparisons run against 11 AI and search services in six Southeast Asian markets, 706 — 43% — produced a different first-named bank when only the AI service changed and the question stayed the same.

In Indonesia, BCA appeared in 86% of tested AI answers, the highest overall presence of any bank in the market, and led most often on personal-banking and trust questions. Bank Mandiri, despite lower overall presence, led more often on business-banking and economic-contribution questions, per ContentGrip’s write-up of the study — evidence that AI-answer visibility tracks the question asked rather than one fixed ranking.

The study also covered Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam across 16 banks and 8 languages, but PRecious Communications’ own landing page for the report withholds those country-level figures behind a lead-capture form; only the Indonesia breakdown is public, via ContentGrip’s reporting.

Why it matters: AI answer engines separate overall visibility from being named first, and the leader on each axis shifts with the question asked, so a bank's AI-visibility strategy has to target specific customer questions rather than chase one aggregate score.
