What this answers

- Almost 25 trillion tokens in its first 72 hours — about three times what Gemini 3.0 processed in the same window — according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, per PPC Land.
- Can free Gemini app users access Gemini 4 Argon?
- No — Argon is limited to the API and to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers; free-tier Gemini app users lost access to two of three models on October 9, per PPC Land.
Gemini 4 Argon processed almost 25 trillion tokens in its first 72 hours — about three times what Gemini 3.0 handled over the same window — Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said on the Sources podcast, per PPC Land. Pichai said Google remains capacity-constrained on Argon and is building smaller, distilled versions to widen access; for now the model is limited to the API and to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Free-tier Gemini app users currently get no Argon access at all, after Google narrowed free-tier model access to a single model, Flash-Lite, on October 9.
Why it matters: A 3x jump in launch demand that still leaves Google capacity-constrained, even after it narrowed free-tier access a week earlier, is a concrete sign that compute scarcity — not just model capability — is gating who gets Google's newest model, and on which surfaces, first.
