Microsoft Clarity adds an AI scrape-to-referral ratio

Microsoft Clarity’s Bot Analytics dashboard added an AI Scrape-to-Referral Ratio card on August 13, ranking which AI crawlers send return visitors against those that mostly extract content without driving traffic back. Per Clarity’s announcement, the feature’s own example showed a 6,000-to-1 ratio across 41 total referrals, and lets site owners filter session recordings by AI referral source to check traffic quality.

Why it matters: It gives site owners a single comparable number for a complaint AEO practitioners have made anecdotally for months — that AI crawlers take far more than they send back — turning crawl-versus-referral into a dashboard metric instead of one-off log analysis.
