Reddit's ChatGPT Search citations fell 86% in four days, tracker finds

Promptwatch found Reddit’s share of ChatGPT Search citations fell from an average of 3.83% (Jul. 18–Aug. 7) to 0.52% between Aug. 14 and 17, an 86.4% decline, per Search Engine Land. The same data shows a much gentler decline in Reddit’s citation share on Google AI Overviews and AI Mode over the same period. Promptwatch said its tracking, drawn from millions of live AI responses, shows when the shift happened but not why, and said it cannot yet rule out a data collection issue on its own end.
