Google adds local business queries to EEA aggregator and supplier units
Google Search Central documentation updated Sept. 18, 2026 says the aggregator unit and supplier unit — alternative Search result formats Google built for the European Economic Area under the EU’s Digital Markets Act — now support local business queries. Since their 2024 launch, the two units had covered only hotels, flights, long-distance trains or buses, and products: aggregator unit surfaces vertical search services like comparison-shopping sites and travel metasearch engines, while supplier unit lets the underlying businesses, from individual hotels to local plumbers, appear without submitting data beyond what Google already crawls.
Why it matters: It's the first documented scope expansion of Google's two-year-old EEA Digital Markets Act compliance search format beyond travel and product queries, extending regulator-mandated competitor visibility into local search.
