Google denies giving Reddit special preference in Search rankings
Google spokesperson Jennifer Kutz told The Verge that Reddit “gets no special preference” in Google Search or its AI search features, per Search Engine Roundtable. Kutz said Google’s systems are built to detect low-quality user-generated content and that AI search features don’t favor any specific site or platform; the statement came in a Verge report on AI-generated spam spreading across Reddit, after two rounds of core and spam updates coincided with declines in Reddit’s Google referral traffic.
