Google Discover's 'Dive deeper' AI test also covers article cards
Google is testing a “Dive deeper” button in Discover that opens an AI-generated topic overview linking to related stories, Google’s Robby Stein said Sept. 18. Google described the test as starting with video cards, but developer Damien Andell of 1492.vision found code flags for article-card entry points too, per PPC Land — suggesting the test already reaches beyond what Google said publicly. Andell said the button did nothing when he tried it in his own testing.
Why it matters: A generative overview that puts Google's own summary ahead of the publisher link is being tested on the surface that NewzDash found already sends publishers more than twice the traffic Search does — and code analysis suggests the test already reaches past the video-only scope Google announced.
