ChatGPT Ads will auto-enable creative enhancements Oct. 30

OpenAI emailed advertisers that it is automatically turning on “creative enhancements” for all new and existing self-serve ChatGPT Ads campaigns starting October 30, 2026, per Search Engine Roundtable, which published the notice. The feature lets OpenAI’s models rewrite headlines, descriptions, images, destination URLs and ad-text translations to fit a conversation or user’s interests without advertiser approval; it is opt-out, not opt-in, and can be disabled anytime in Ads Manager. The move follows OpenAI’s August decision to make automated bidding the default for new ad groups, and drew criticism from PPC professionals who told Search Engine Roundtable the change risks running ads in unwanted contexts.

Why it matters: Turning on AI-rewritten creative by default, with opt-out rather than opt-in, is the same default-on pattern OpenAI used to make automated bidding standard in August — each move hands OpenAI's models more control over how a ChatGPT ad actually looks and bids.
