Daily Mail runs 12-15 GEO tests ahead of AI visibility product

What this answers

Are publishers selling GEO services to brands?
Yes, per Digiday: the Daily Mail plans to make its AI visibility offering an official product early next year, Future's GEO product has more than 30 clients, and Forbes offers a consultative version to brand partners.
How does the Daily Mail test GEO for a brand?
It identifies the prompts consumers use to research a brand's product, tracks them across AI platforms over time, checks which sources get cited and, where there is an opening, creates bespoke branded content, per Digiday.

The Daily Mail has 12 to 15 generative engine optimization (GEO) tests running across the U.S., U.K. and Australia and plans to turn its AI visibility offering into an official product early next year, per Digiday, citing director of SEO and editorial ecommerce Carly Steven at Digiday’s Media Strategies London event. In one early test for an unnamed personal finance brand, Steven said visibility across the target prompts rose from about 50% to nearly 75%. She said the approach does not suit every topic: where government or medical sites dominate the citations, there is less room for publisher-written branded content to move results. Digiday also reports that Future’s GEO product has more than 30 clients and that Forbes is building a consultative AI-search visibility offer for brand partners.

Why it matters: Publishers are turning citation tracking into a paid service for brands, so AI visibility is becoming something publishers sell as well as something they measure.
