Google tests home page buttons for images, files, brainstorming
Google is testing new “Create images,” “Ask about files,” and “Brainstorm” buttons below the search box on its desktop home page, per Search Engine Roundtable, alongside the existing AI Mode button, Lens, and voice search. The buttons, spotted by Khushal Bherwani on X, replace part of the traditional Search and I’m Feeling Lucky layout for some users and were not shown in Google’s May demo of its “intelligent” search box.
Why it matters: Google is pushing generative-AI entry points onto its most conservative, highest-traffic real estate — the home page itself — rather than confining them to the Search app or AI Mode tab.
