Google said on Oct 28 it is scaling ads in AI Mode in Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore, with Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom planned for Q4 2026. It is also launching multiturn ads in the U.S., which allow ads to appear in follow-up queries within AI Mode; ads stay labeled “Sponsored”. Google says AI Mode queries run about three times longer than traditional searches and that click-through rates are already similar between sponsored and organic product list items, citing internal U.S. data from August 20 to September 3, 2026. The post does not say which markets already had ads or how many advertisers are eligible.
Why it matters: Google is moving AI Mode ads from a U.S. surface to a multi-country one and reporting its own click-through parity with organic product listings, so brands outside the U.S. should expect paid placements in the same answer space as their organic citations.
